Or marvel at the marble wonders like Jaswant Thada and Umaid Bhavan that stand testimony to the royalty of the twelve rulers of Mandore and Maharaja Umaid Singh.

If craftsmanship intrigues you Sardar Bazaar and Clock Tower are the places you can’t afford to miss. They are replete with wood carvings, wrought iron, liqueur work, silver and ivory ornamentation and leatherwear. While these majestic monuments will take your breath away, meandering through the Mandore Gardens will take you to the cenotaphs of brave rulers and 15 Hindu deities carved in rock wall. If you need further intrigue, the 100 pillared Maha Mandir is not far.

Getting there: A six hour drive from Jaipur or Udaipur via bus or taxi. Or you could board the Mandore Express or Inter-city Express from Jaipur. Or take a flight from Delhi to Jodhpur.
