Beyt
Al Chai takes it romantic name from the history of the building,
which, in years gone past, used to be a tea house.
Ideally located on the famous Kelele Square and benefiting from
the shade of those ancient trees and the serenity of the Indian
Ocean, Beyt Al Chai is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the
delights that Zanzibar has to offer.
Walking to the many nearby restaurants in the balmy evenings is
an enchanting and safe way to take in the star studded skies and
the candle lit streets of the ancient Stone Town.
Facilities & Services
The spacious and breezy lounge is furnished with huge
comfortable sofas or arm chairs placed to create different
sitting areas to give privacy and comfort for those who want to
relax, write postcards, read books or just sip a cool drink and
enjoy the gentle music in the background.
Dining
Breakfast is served in the courtyard to enhance the senses as
the sun shimmers through a roof of palm tree branches and the
gentle waterfall of the fountain murmurs in the background.
Accommodation
The 6 bedrooms and suites are divided into three categories: 2
Sultan Rooms with private bathrooms and a superb sea view; 3
Prince Rooms with private bathroom and separate dressing room;
and 1 Princess Room, slightly smaller but as original as the
others with a good size bathroom with direct entrance from the
room. In order to maintain the character of this antique
building, there are no bars or restaurants - but there is a wide
variety of these close by in the Stone Town. However, there is a
beautiful and bright breakfast courtyard, one of the jewels of
this house and drinks are available in the living room - the
perfect place to relax on one of the Zanzibar beds or large
sofas, taking in the magical atmosphere and sounds of the town
while gazing at the turquoise blue Indian Ocean views.
