Zanzibar is part of an archipelago made up of Zanzibar, the Pemba Islands and several islets. It is located in the Indian Ocean, S05'57.204 Latitude and E039'21.976. It's about 25 miles from the Tanzanian coast – 20 minutes by plane or 2 hours by Ferry from Dar es Salaam.

The Zamani Zanzibar Kempinski is located on the prestigious north east coast of Zanzibar. Approximately 60 kilometres (45 minutes) from world heritage listed Stone Town, Zanzibar Ferry Terminal and Zanzibar International Airport.

• Zanzibar Beach Club : An exclusive 800 m long private beach with powder white sand, crystal clear water, and lush palm groves in the background. This is the place to relax and get away from it all. The famed shallow reef of Kiwengwa adds to the beauty of this secluded spot and makes it an exceptionally safe and fun location. Situated about 1 km from the hotel, the Zamani Club offers a Grill and Bar and lounge chairs amidst drooping palms. Get transported to and from Zamani Beach Club either by boat, bicycle, bus, or by walking on the beach. The choice or combination of transport is up to you. Guests enjoy one of the best beaches in Zanzibar while they are also offered the following options for activities on request:
  • Beach Volleyball / Soccer / Basket Ball / Badminton For the active spirits, there are many ways to enjoy the beach and release some energy. Team up with friends and smash the day away at the beach volleyball court or Badminton court. A Basket Ball stand on the beach is just the right place to practice your shot. We can also organize memorable “Beach Olympics” activities for groups. 

  • Water Sports : The blue waters and light breeze of the Indian Ocean beckon to all who love to ride the waves.

  • Reef Walk : Put on some rock shoes (available from the towel dispensing area) and go for a walk during low tide, exploring all the puddles with small fish, sea stars or maybe something even bigger. This can be done with one of our trained staff or on your own.

  • Snorkeling : There are a lot of small things to be explored under the water from the shore. Get complimentary gear from the towel dispensing area and see what the reef has to offer you.

  • *Sack race : Place both legs in a sack and run a distance of ±30m. Individuals to race against each other.

  • *3 Leg Race : Requires two person’s legs to be tied together. One leg of each person will be tied with the other and they must run to cover a distance of 30m with three legs, racing against other pairs.

  • *Baton Scramble : A well known lifeguard activity. Let say 6 people start with activity (number of people can differ). They will have to lie on their stomach, facing away from batons. There will be 5 batons placed vertically in the sand ±20m away. Upon the whistle the 6 competitors must stand up and run to get the baton. The person without a baton is out. Now we will go on with 5 persons, 4 batons until two persons, 1 baton and then a winner.

  • *Egg Toss : Two persons face each other with an egg in the hand of one person. They start about 2m apart. At the sound of the whistle they throw the egg to their partner. If the egg does not break, they will move 1 meter further apart and throw the egg after the sound of the whistle. They will go on until the egg breaks. The couple that reaches the furthest without breaking their egg will be the winner.

  • *Tug-O-War : Two teams competing against each other by pulling the other team over a mark. The teams can vary: men against men; women against women, mixed against mixed and from 5-10 people in a team.

  • *Sand Castle Building : Competing in team format. Every team will receive required equipment and then they must build a sandcastle within a certain time period. The best castle by standard will win.

• Jetty : 150 m stretched out over the reef, the jetty is just the right place to relax. Relax in the sun on a sunbed with a cool breeze tingling your body, while sipping on a cocktail served from the jetty bar. Go down the staircase and swim in the warm, crystal clear water the ocean has on offer. For the more active spirit, a range of activities including Kayaking, Snorkeling, Catamaran sailing, Ngalawa sailing and windsurfing can keep you busy. After your activity, get refreshed from a cool, fresh outdoor shower.

Activities

• PADI Scuba Diving Centre : The reefs around Zanzibar Island present myriads of colorful coral life. At low tide the spectacular Mnemba Atoll offers a depth of 10-15 meters and is a joy for casual snorkeling and the drop-offs around the Atoll offer reefs at a range of 15-30 m for the novice diver. Zamani Zanzibar Kempinski, in conjunction with a PADI Gold Palm Five Star Dive Shop, offers a full range of PADI and BS-AC courses from beginner to advanced. During the months of March, August and September, the waters off the east coast are host to whale sharks, leopard rays and dolphins. There is US& 3 to be paid as a conservation fee that is used for the protection of the reefs. 

• Deep Sea Fishing : Zanzibar is home to some of Africa's best deep sea fishing grounds. Some excellent year round big game fishing opportunities can be found between the waters of Zanzibar and Pemba Island. The fishing boats are operated by professionals and equipped with the latest technologies and conform to the highest international safety standards.

  Big Yellow fin Tuna are plentiful in the months of August to November. Sailfish Big Blue Marlin and a number of Striped and Black Marlin are also found.

  During this time the ocean comes alive with huge schools of Tuna pursuing smaller fish.

  November to March is the billfish season, when Striped Marlin is the most abundant, at times showing up in shoals of up to ten. During this period there is a good presence of Large Blue and Black Marlin as well.

  The shop caters for a maximum of 4 anglers onboard, including a pack lunch & soft drinks, excluding alcohol. Please note that beer and wine will be available and must be arranged for beforehand. Safaris out to the Pemba Channel and night fishing trips for Broadbill can be arranged. An extra cost will apply to Pemba Channel trips.  

• Cycling : Do a 1 hour tour to Kiwengwa, along the beach, and explore the fascinating small shops along the way. Here you can buy a present for someone special, or just something to take home with.

  The two hour tour will take you on the same route, but goes up further along the beach. One of our well trained staff will accompany you on this tour, with some refreshments.

• Beach Picnic : Sail off to a private, secluded beach and enjoy each others company while having picnic on the beach. Choose from an option of two baskets, i.e. sweet or savoury.  Picnic availability is depending on the tide.

• Dhow Sunset Champagne Cruise : The whole experience is about sunset, stars and romance! Enjoy a drink and snacks on the Dao, while sailing during sunset. Let the evening breeze carry you into the spirit of the night yet to come. Sunset-cruise availability is depending on the tide.

• Water Sports : The blue waters and light breeze of the Indian Ocean beckon to all who love to ride the waves.

• Sailing : Come and sail away over the crystal clear blue water of the reef on a catamaran, Ngalawa (local sail boat) or gypsy.  Relax and let one of our sailors take you on a journey you will never forget.

  If you feel like doing something more active, why not go out on a Kayak or Windsurfer and burn off those calories picked up.

• Leisure Pools : Our attractive leisure pools include a recreation pool and a lap pool, both situated on cliff side. The lap pool is situated in front of the Fitness Centre.

• Kids Play Ground : The kids play ground offers games and fun for the children. An outside area with swings, slides, a sea-saw and jungle gym is available. Indoors children can keep them busy with painting, games, puzzles and many more. An activity schedule is available for daily events.

• Games : Lie in the sun around the pool and take your partner on with a board game. A large variety of games are available in and from the library, including playing cards, local games, darts, billiards, table-tennis and more. Or be active and shoot some balls into the basket ball hoop.

  Cloves Restaurant is open daily from 07:00am to 11:00pm.

• The Red Snapper : Open only for Dinner, the Red Snapper restaurant is located Cliffside overlooking the magnificent Indian Ocean. As the name suggests The Red Snapper dedicates itself to creating a range of stunning dishes by using the freshest fish and seafood.

  The Red Snapper is open for dinner daily from 6:00pm to 11:00pm.

• Zanzi Bar : The perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy an array of African and International Cocktails. Also offers an amazing selection of wines.

  The Zanzi Bar is open daily from 16:00pm until late.

• Pool Bar : For really decadent lazing, you can order drinks and light meals throughout the day from the Pool Bar, either eating at your sunbed by the pool or under the shade of the bar itself.

  The Pool Bar is open daily from 09:00am to sunset.

• Jetty Bar : Stretching about 150m over the reef, the jetty has something to offer for everyone, day and night.

  During daytime, either relax in the sun on a sun-bed or have a drink and something light to eat. During night, let the pier transport you to a bar which blends Zanzibari tradition and a relaxed atmosphere with romantic music and candle light.

• One Bed Room Villa :

  Zamani has a choice of 5 one bedroom villas.  Each of these 150 sqm villas is spacious, contemporary in style and filled with natural light.

  Each villa is set within its own tropical garden with panoramic views over the Indian Ocean.  The one bedroom villas consist of a master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, which looks out onto a tropical private courtyard garden.  A large lounge/dining room with sliding doors which open onto a private sun deck and your very own infinity swimming pool.  A fully equipped kitchenette with complimentary soft drinks and butler service is available on request.

  Each of the one bedroom villas has its very own character and name, while their artwork, as well as some of the individually selected decorative items, are inspired by the name of the villa. These are:

  The One Bedroom Villas can accommodate either up to 3 Adults, or 2 Adults and 2 Children.

• Villa Pemba (2 Bed Room) : Zamani’s two-bedroom villa is located on the edge of a cliff directly over looking the azure blue waters of the Indian Ocean. The 250 square meter villa includes two double bedrooms each with uninterrupted sea-views; a separate living room with wide sliding-glass doors opening onto a large sun deck and infinity swimming pool, with its water seeming to cascade into the sea below; a fully fitted kitchenette complete with complimentary soft drinks.

  The villa’s interior design and furnishings are in classic Zanzibari style with artwork adorning the walls from renowned local artists.

  The master bedroom features a king-size canopied bed, side tables, sliding glass doors that give way to screen and glass doors and unimpeded views. The spacious ensuite bathroom comes with a separate shower, large bathtub and twin vanities looking onto a private tropical courtyard garden.

  The guest bedroom is very similar to the master bedroom in design and furnishings, and also houses a spacious ensuite bathroom which looks onto a tropical courtyard garden.

  The Pemba Villa Can accommodate up to 4 Adults and 2 children.

• Villa Zanzibar (3 Bed Room) : Also known as the Presidential villa, this magnificent 3 bedroom, 300sqm villa is pure luxury. Discretely isolated from the rest of the hotel, privacy is absolutely guaranteed.

  The villa opens onto an expansive sitting room and dining area, with a kitchen, two guest rooms with ensuite bathrooms and a very spacious master bedroom with its own lavish ensuite. At the front is a huge private outdoor terrace with a 20-meter infinity swimming pool overlooking the Indian Ocean and spectacular entertainment area. Private access to a white sandy beach is just meters away.

  Villa Zanzibar comes with its own fully equipped kitchenette, complimentary soft drinks and can accommodate a maximum of 6 persons.
