It is a location with calm rainforest, distant from the commotion of safari jeeps, lovely hilly terrain, deep gorges, rivulets, huge herds of mammals, and excellent birding. In Madhya Pradesh's Hoshangabad district, the Satpura Mountains are home to the unspoiled forest areas, among other things, of Satpura National Park. The Satpura Tiger Reserve is 2133.307 square kilometres overall. Its centre spans 1339.27 square kilometres.

 

 

Its 1339.27 sq km core is surrounded by buffer zones. Its unique means of animal viewing set it apart from other Indian tiger reserves. One can go on a walking safari, an elephant safari, a canoe safari, a birding safari, and more here. The Satpura National Park's unspoiled Highland eco-system was created in 1981 and is one of a kind in nature.

How to reach Satpura National Park

Satpura National Park is located in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh State in Central India. It is in Central region of Madhya Pradesh, spread over Satpura ranges.

 

By Flight

Their are 02 important airports for reaching Satpura National Park. Nearest one is Bhopal Airport (220kms) and second one is Jabalpur Airport (260kms). Both the airports have direct flight connectivity with Delhi & Mumbai and are actively used by tourists. 

 

By Train

Their are many ways to reach Satpura National Park by train transportation. Nearby railway stations for reaching park are: Sohagpur (18kms), Hoshangabad (45kms), Itarsi (65kms) & Pipariya (40kms). It is on Howrah-Mumbai rail-track. 

 

By Road

Madhai entrance gate is about 18kms inside from Jabalpur - Hoshangabad road. Nearby cities are Bhopal (170kms), Jabalpur (250kms), Itarsi (60kms). Last 18kms is a village & forest route thus road condition is not so good else we will find almost good roads.

 

Landscape

The terrain of the national park is extremely rugged and consists of fascinating deep valleys, sandstone peaks, narrow gorges, rivulets, waterfalls, thickly dense green forest of Sal and other medicinal herbs and Tawa vast reservoir. Un-even altitude ranges from 290m. to 1352 m. Highest peak of national park is in Satpura National Park i.e. Dhoopgarh at an altitude of 4500 feets(1400 m.). As it is the highest peak of Madhya Pradesh, sunlight reaches this peak earlier than anyother landscape of Madhya Pradesh.

 

Safari timings, bookings and procedure:

For safari bookings one has to do it online via Madhya Pradesh / Maharashtra booking portal.  Morning and evening safaris are available for tourism.  The safari timing change as per seasons and sunrise and sunset.

?Morning Jeep: 6.00 A.M to 11.00 A.M. (entry allowed until 8.00 a.m.)

?Afternoon Jeep: 3.00 P.M. until 6.00 P.M (entry allowed until 4.30 p.m.)

Each gate offers safari permit to the exclusive area of that range and no vehicle is allowed to interchange the zones while on safari. The entry and exit gate for the vehicle has to be same. The gypsy charges or vehicle charges are separate and one has to pay differently.

The tourists are not allowed to get down from the vehicle throughout the safari. A set of rules and regulation exists for tiger safari and the park guide is aware of that. One has to follow his instruction in order to follow the regulations.

For the gate entry one needs to produce identification documents of the tourists like passport/driving license/ pan card etc. For the foreigners the passport in original has to be shown.
