And in the evening try the Law Garden evening market for ethnic and traditional clothes and white metal jewellery. Be there by 5 P.M to have an early start. The POIs as well Teen Darwaja in old city are once again great places for antique shopping if you have the time and inclination for bargaining and don’t mind the heat and dust of the crowded old city.

1. Visit the Busy Lal Darwaja

One of the most popular and busiest shopping centres of the city, Lal Darwaja is a favourite shopping destination among locals. If you’re visiting for the first time, get ready to bargain as you can save a lot here. You can shop for sarees, shirts and trousers, children’s clothes, festive outfits, wallets, belts and a lot more at Lal Darwaja. Foodies will also enjoy the street food stalls around the markets that serve samosas, chats, dhoklas, etc.

2. After Hours Shopping at Law Garden Night Market

If your daytime explorations weren’t enough and you wish to check out more things, then head to the night market at Law Garden. The streets are bustling with activity and bright colours owing to the ethnic items up for grabs. You can find stalls selling famous items from Kutch and Saurashtra in this market. If you have a wedding coming up or want to stock up on your festive wear, you will find beautiful saree blouses (cholis), traditional skirts (called chaniyas) and sparkling costume jewellery.

3. Dazzling Jewellery at Manek Chowk

Located in the heart of the old city, Manek Chowk is a vegetable market in the day time and a jewellery and textile market in the evening. The jewellery market here is known to be the second largest in India, making it a must-visit for those looking to take home some sparkling baubles. While plenty of hotels in Ahmedabad might offer you fancy desserts, the kulfi at the food stalls here is definitely worth sampling.

4. Ethnic Wear at Sindhi Market

If you want to experience the traditional style of Ahmedabad, head to the Sindhi Market for bedsheets, dress materials and sarees. It is located near Kalugar gate and is also close to the Revdi Market, which is popular for its textiles.

5. Brand Hunting at CG Road

Head to CG Road for some mall time and brand hunting. You will find the Iscon Mall, Super Mall and other branded stores on this street. If you’re looking for a more contemporary style of shopping, CG Road is the place to be.
