The 4 Main Safari Ranges of Kaziranga

1. Central Range (Kohora Zone)

The Kohora zone serves as the primary entry point and the busiest tourism hub in Kaziranga. It features a stunning mix of wetlands, water bodies, and tall elephant grass. This is the absolute best range for early morning Elephant Safaris and is highly rewarding for birdwatching near its interior lakes.

2. Western Range (Bagori Zone)

If your main goal is to get up close with the prehistoric Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros, the Bagori zone is a must-visit. Characterized by vast alluvial grasslands, it has the highest density of rhinos within the park. It is a favored zone for both Jeep and Elephant safaris.

3. Eastern Range (Agaratoli Zone)

5. Kaziranga Orchid and Cultural Park

Located just a short distance from the Kohora Central Range, this expansive park is a celebration of Northeast India's rich biodiversity. It houses more than 500 rare species of indigenous orchids, a greenhouse, a medicinal plant garden, and a museum showcasing traditional Assamese handlooms. Don't miss the live folk music and Bihu dance performances held daily.

6. Kakochang Waterfalls

Tucked away in the emerald folds of the adjacent Karbi Anglong hills, Kakochang is a magnificent, cascading waterfall.
