KIPLING CAMP is the perfect destination for those who wish to relax in idyllic surrounds and explore the remote forests and villages of central India. Established in 1982 by a family of conservationists on the edge of Kanha National Park, it is one of the finest wildlife camps in India with attention given to every detail. Over the years, the Camp has moved gently with the times, without spoiling its magical atmosphere.

THE CAMP is family owned and run and what sets it apart is its personal, houseguest ambience; our team focuses on the needs of every guest. With decades of history in the area and a strong wildlife and local community focus, we offer you a unique and very personal experience in the wilds of Kanha Tiger Reserve. Kipling Camp is also the home of Tara, a much-loved elephant who loves to be bathed in the nearby river.

Families are particularly welcome - it is a wonderful place for children to learn about nature and have their first wildlife experience.

A campfire at night, listening to the sounds of the jungle and sharing tales of adventure, provide the perfect end to an exciting day.

ACCOMMODATION is in comfortable two-to four-room cottages, each with its own verandah offering views of the Camp and the surrounding forest. The rooms have twin or double beds, tea and coffee making facilities, and tiled ensuite bathrooms with showers. Heaters and hot water bottles are provided in the winter, and coolers or air-conditioners in the summer.

We have 15 double rooms - 11 deluxe rooms (four of which have double beds), and four standard rooms with twin beds. Our Private Cottage, which has a bedroom, sitting room, two bathrooms and a patio overlooking the waterhole, is particularly popular with guests.

ACTIVITIES are many at Kipling Camp. Apart from daily safaris into Kanha National Park, you can relax at the Camp in a hammock, have a massage, bird watch, take a nature walk, or photograph the wildlife coming to drink at our waterhole. There is the joy of bathing Tara in the river, and exploring local villages with their traditional architecture and colourful markets. At night there are film shows and tribal dances, and if you are lucky you might catch a glimpse of a Mottled Woodowl or a Giant Flying Squirrel in the forest around the Camp. Day trips can be organized to visit the fort in Mandla, the amazing gorges near Seoni and the Marble Rocks in Jabalpur. But most visitors simply like to unwind in one of the remotest and most beautiful places in India.

In order to ensure good wildlife sightings, particularly of tigers, a stay of at least three or four days is recommended.
