The origin of Pondicherry is buried in legends. According to one view, the town was once called Vedapuri and was a seat of Vedic culture, and the abode of Sage Agastya. Prof. Jonvean Dubrouil, the French archeologist believes that the Ashram of Agastya was on the very spot where the main building of Sri Aurobindo Ashram stands today.

Day ONE: Pondicherry
Arrival at Chennai Airport. Transfer to Pondicherry. En route visit Mahabalipuram (1 hour 30 minutes drive). Mahabalipuram - Visit Shore Temple, which is now a World Heritage Monument and other stone carvings and rock-cut temples. Lunch at Radisson Temple Bay, Mahabalipuram (Direct payment). Arrive at Pondicherry (2 hours drive) and check in at Palais De Mahe. Evening, spend time at the beach. Overnight at Palais De Mahe.
DAY TWO: Pondicherry
After breakfast, proceed for a guided tour of Pondicherry starting with Auroville. Auroville is a universal township in the making for a population of up to 50,000 people from around the world. It was founded by the mother of Sri Aurobindo Ashram. The soul of the Auroville is Matrimandir which represents the Universal Mother or the Divine Consciousness. Lunch is available at the visitor's centre in Auroville (Direct payment). Afternoon visit Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Museum, Botanical Garden, Churches etc. Evening at leisure for own activities. Overnight at Palais De Mahe.
DAY THREE: Chettinad
After breakfast, check-out and proceed from Pondicherry to Chettinad. En route, visit Chidambaram (2 hours drive). Chidambaram has one of the oldest, most venerated and magni cent temples of South India. Shiva Nataraja or the Dancing Shiva stands in his cosmic dance pose in the sanctum sanctorum. Flanking the temple are 108 sculptured illustrations of Bharat Natya Shastra. En route, visit to Tanjore (2 hours 30 minutes drive). Tanjore - Visit the most spectacular of temples, the Brihadishwara capped by a monolithic cupola made of a single granite rock weighing 80 tons. The temple itself is decorated with carved panels depicting mythological events. Lunch at Hotel Parisutham, Tanjore (Direct payment). Arrive at Chettinad by evening (2 hours drive) and check –in at Visalam. Dinner and Overnight at Visalam
DAY FOUR: Chettinad
After breakfast, local sightseeing of Chettinad which includes visit to Raja's Palace, old Chettiar Mansions, Athangudi village to see the hand-made tiles, handloom saree weaving house, Chettiar Clan temples, local markets, bullock cart ride, cycle tour. Dinner and Overnight at Visalam.
DAY FIVE: Chettinad
After breakfast, day visit to Madurai (One way 2 hours drive). Madurai visit includes the Sree Meenakshi Temple which is dedicated to the consort of Lord Shiva with its towering Gopurams. Lunch at Hotel Heritage, Madurai (Direct payment). Back to Visalam. Evening cooking demonstration.Dinner and Overnight at Visalam
DAY SIX: Trichy Airport
After breakfast, drive back to Trichy International Airport (2 Hours)
